Complete and Partial Dentures Guide
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. Complete dentures replace all teeth in an arch; partial dentures replace some teeth around remaining teeth.
What to know
Design depends on which teeth are missing, remaining teeth and oral health. A dentist can discuss options and whether implant-supported care is relevant. The mouth can change over time, and a denture may need adjustment or replacement. Contact the clinic if it causes persistent sore spots, slips or makes eating difficult. Follow directions for cleaning, storage and overnight use.
What to discuss before deciding
Adjustment is individualized
A new or adjusted denture may need follow-up to assess comfort and fit. Tell the dental team about rubbing, sore areas, movement or trouble chewing rather than trying to adjust the denture yourself. Ask what changes are expected and how to arrange a review if discomfort continues.
Care for your mouth too
Ask how to clean the denture and any remaining teeth, gums and oral tissues. Confirm how it should be stored and whether it should be removed at certain times. If the denture cracks or suddenly stops fitting, contact the clinic for advice.
